Yale Football Tailgate – October 11

In the spirit of all things autumnal and fraternal, Council 10705 is planning a repeat of last year’s successful Yale football tailgate.

Plans are to gather for food and drink – and sell some tootsie rolls to raise money for those with intellectual disabilities – before the Yale v. Dartmouth game on October 11.

We’ll have more details and logistics later, but be sure to mark your calendars new – you don’t want to miss this fun tradition!

McGivney Walk Committee Meeting Tomorrow

Council 10705 has formed a committee to explore the possibility of hosting a pilgrimage walk to remember Fr. Michael J McGivney and bring awareness to the cause of his canonization.

The proposed walk, to potentially be held as early as next fall, would visit many of the places important to Fr. McGivney’s life.  The exploratory committee has been tasked with identifying these sites, understanding the logistics of the walk, and develop a plan to present to the Council.

The next meeting of this committee will be held September 23 at 5:00 PM at the Kelly’s (Crown & Temple, New Haven).  Anyone interested in participating in the discussion is encouraged to attend; you do not need to be a council member.

First Degree Monday (Sep 22)

Know a Catholic man interested in being part of something greater than themselves? In strengthening their faith and serving their Church? In building the bonds of fraternalism or becoming a better father?  Ask them to join the Knights of Columbus and invite them to visit http://kofc.org/un/en/membership/join/whyjoinflash/index.html to learn more!

Council 10705 will be hosting our next First Degree on Monday (Sep 22) at 7:00 in St. Mary’s Church.  Please email kofc10705@gmail.com if you know of any candidates interested in attending.  Form 100s may be completed at the Degree.

Soup Kitchen Meal Prep Sunday @ 3:30

This Sunday, Council 10705 will be preparing its monthly meal for Immanuel Baptist Men’s Shelter.  This is a fantastic volunteer opportunity to assist in feeding the hungry of New Haven and give back to our local community.

Meal preparation begins at 3:30 in the basement of St. Mary’s Church.  We’ll finish up cooking around 6:00, and then serve the food at the shelter.  We invite you to join us for any part of the afternoon you can assist.

Hope to see you there!
